〜のに(逆接)
〜のに(逆接) means although; even though. It is a JLPT N4 grammar point. Contrastive 「のに」 is used when the result is different from what was expected, often with surprise or disappointment. It follows the plain form, and nouns or na-adjectives take 「な」 before it. The following clause often carries the speaker's feeling.
Japanese sources describe it as 「逆の気持ちを表す」.
