〜のに（目的）
〜のに（目的） means for doing; to do. It is a JLPT N4 grammar point. Purpose 「のに」 says what something is used for or what an action is useful for. It follows the dictionary form of a verb. Expressions such as 「使います」, 「便利です」, and 「時間がかかります」 often follow it.
Japanese sources describe it as 「用途・評価の対象」.
