〜そうだ(伝聞)
〜そうだ(伝聞) means I hear that; it is said that. It is a JLPT N4 grammar point. The hearsay 「〜そうだ」 is used to pass on information heard from someone or received from news, notices, and so on. It does not show the speaker's own guess; it reports what was heard. It usually follows the plain form of a sentence.
Japanese sources describe it as 「聞いた情報を伝える」.
