JLPT N4 grammar

〜かな

〜かな means I wonder if; maybe. It is a JLPT N4 grammar point. 「〜かな」 is used when wondering about something, almost like talking to yourself. It sounds softer and more casual than a direct question. It shows the speaker's uncertainty rather than asking strongly for an answer.

Japanese sources describe it as 「自分に軽く問いかける」.
